If you object to your Information being transferred or used in this way please do not use our services.
Additionally
Clear Token does not provide services for the following purposes:
1. Tobacco & Nicotine Products
Standard networks explicitly prohibit the sale of tobacco, as it is age-restricted and subject to heavy state/federal excise taxes which processors do not want to audit.
- Cigarettes and cigars
- Chewing tobacco and dip
- Pipe tobacco
- E-cigarettes and vaping devices
- Vape liquids, pods, and cartridges (regardless of nicotine content)
- Nicotine pouches (e.g., Zyn)
- Rolling papers (when sold explicitly as tobacco accessories)
2. Gambling & Wagering
Only highly specialized, explicitly licensed gambling processors (like Sightline or JCM Global) can handle these. Standard processors cannot.
- Lottery tickets (state, national, or international)
- Online casino gaming (slots, roulette, etc.)
- Sports betting (online and in-person, unless via a dedicated, licensed POS system)
- Horse racing wagering / Off-track betting (OTB)
- Online poker
- Bingo (for cash prizes)
- Fantasy sports (often restricted to debit, or requires specialized underwriting)
- Virtual casino chips or in-game wagering
3. Adult Content & Services
Mastercard and Visa implemented massive crackdowns on this industry in 2020/2021, requiring strict age verification and content moderation that standard processors cannot provide.
- Pornographic video subscriptions
- Live webcamming services
- Explicit image/content websites
- Escorts or prostitution (also illegal)
- "Sugar dating" or adult matchmaking platforms
- Sex toys and novelty items (Note: Mastercard recently reclassified these, and many standard processors have dropped them entirely due to compliance liability).
4. Illegal Drugs & Controlled Substances (Federal)
Because card networks are federally regulated, they adhere to the federal Controlled Substances Act, regardless of state-level legalization.
- Marijuana / Cannabis (THC products, even in legal states)
- Psychedelics (Psilocybin, MDMA, LSD, DMT—even where decriminalized)
- Cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines, etc.
- Unlicensed or grey-market Kratom
- Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC products (strictly prohibited by standard processors)
5. Cash Equivalents & Financial Instruments
Processors make money on interchange fees. Buying cash equivalents results in zero interchange and massive money-laundering risk.
- Money orders
- Traveler’s checks
- Foreign currency (paper bills or coins)
- Stored-value cards (Buying gift cards with a credit card is strictly prohibited by network rules to prevent arbitrage and fraud)
- Cryptocurrency purchases (Note: While a few specific exchanges allow it via specialized partnerships, standard merchants absolutely cannot sell crypto via a standard gateway).
- Casino chips / gaming tokens
- Peer-to-Peer (P2P) money transfers (e.g., you cannot fund a Venmo/CashApp balance with a credit card without it being coded as a Cash Advance, which standard merchants cannot do).
6. Pharmaceuticals & Pseudo-Pharmaceuticals
The FDA and card networks aggressively target unverified pharmacies.
- Prescription drugs sold without a verified, direct-to-doctor prescription (online pill mills)
- Controlled prescription medications (Opioids, Adderall, Xanax, etc.)
- Anabolic steroids
- Human Growth Hormone (HGH)
- "Research chemicals" (often synthetic drugs sold under the guise of laboratory research)
- Unapproved or fake COVID-19 testing kits/treatments
7. Weapons, Ammunition & Tactical Gear
While some specialized high-risk processors handle firearms, the vast majority of standard acquirers prohibit them due to legal liability.
- Firearms (handguns, rifles, shotguns)
- Ammunition (bullets, shells, reloading powder)
- High-capacity magazines
- Certain firearm parts (lower receivers, auto-sears)
- Stun guns / Tasers (often restricted)
8. Counterfeit, Pirated & Intellectual Property Infringing Goods
Card networks are subject to international anti-piracy laws.
- Fake designer clothing, bags, and shoes ("replicas")
- Counterfeit watches and jewelry
- Pirated software, movies, or music downloads
- Mod chips or devices designed solely to bypass copyright protection (e.g., game console jailbreaking tools)
9. Pseudo-Financial Scams & High-Risk "Get Rich Quick" Schemes
Visa and Mastercard maintain "Zero Tolerance" policies for these because of massive chargeback rates.
- Binary options trading platforms
- Unregulated Forex (Foreign Exchange) trading platforms
- Tech support scams (e.g., "Microsoft called me" pop-ups)
- "Miracle" weight loss supplements (often contain illegal or undeclared ingredients)
- Credit repair / Debt consolidation services (considered massively high-risk)
- Pyramid schemes / Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) recruitment fees
- Government grant schemes
10. Other Prohibited / Highly Restricted Activities
- Bail Bonds: Prohibited by most standard processors.
- Ticket Scalping: Reselling event tickets above face value.
- Dating Services / Matchmaking: Often blocked due to incredibly high chargeback ratios (people charge back after a bad date).
- Telemarketing: Outbound telemarketing sales are prohibited by Visa unless you have a specialized, highly vetted account.
- Peer-to-Peer Lending: Unregulated lending platforms.
- Bitcoin Mixing / Tumbling: Services designed to obscure the origin of cryptocurrency.
